The Bromeliad Nebula

Been quiet for awhile, so...just a wake-up piece.

All peoples are prone to the "space sickness," even the long-lived, insectoid Drene. As they found themselves sojourning the long dark sleep of space, spirits nourished only by ancient memories of a lush, long-abandoned planet, they gazed with reverence at this first of luminaries upon their exodus.

"Bromeliad," they named it - the rough translation (and surprisingly similar extraterrestrial counterpart) of a long-forgotten flower which once flourished at their planet's north and south magnetic pole. For the spectrum of light and color which they comprehend is far beyond description in terms of of human sight, and such a salve it was to their multifaceted vision after the long dark cold of space.
